Norman T. Dahl Gallery
This exhibition features paintings that explore the visual qualities of a major aspect of Montana life: heavy industry, including refineries, drilling stations, mines, cement plants, and grain mills. These sites challenge typical tourist notions of the Treasure State. While these industries provide the livelihood of many Montana families, the heavy work involved also demands a great human price.
Monica Bauer has exhibited work in New York, Chicago, Hamburg, Bremen, Sydney, and Beijing. Her work has been published in New American Paintings, Punkt, and Die Welt.
Bauer earned advanced degrees at the University of Montana and the Art Institute of Chicago where she also taught studio art and art history. She also taught at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and the New School in New York.
