NEW 12 Day Attendance Policy
Students are limited to 12 Excused and Unexcused Absences per class per semester.
Excused Absences — An absence that had been pre-approved or cleared, within two days of the absence, by a parent or a guardian. Students are allowed to make up all work that is missed.
Unexcused Absences — An absence that has not been pre-approved or excused, within two days of the absence, by a parent or guardian. Students will be allowed to make-up work missed during unexcused absences at teacher discretion.
If a student accumulates more than 12 total excused or unexcused absences in any class period during a semester, the grade will show in Power School as “NG (No Grade).”
At the end of the semester, if the student is passing the class with an “A”, “B” or “C”, he/she will receive credit. The teacher will OVERRIDE the semester grade with a PG (Passing Grade). This “PG” will be calculated as a 2.0 toward the student’s cumulative GPA. Students who have a “D” or “F” will maintain those grades. (*To have letter grade reinstated, parent/student MUST contact the appropriate Associate Principal within 3 days of accumulating the 12th absence.)
